Farewell to the Remus Lupins

Sorry for being so behind! I've been a little pre-occupied.
Anyway, while I'm not at LeakyCon right now, I can say I know a lot of things that have been going on. And apparently, the Remus Lupins have retired.
So I'll write a nice little farewell.

Dear Alex and co.,
Thank you for being one of my favorite wizard rock bands. You're one of the main reasons I'm even in this game. I'm really sad that the band itself is done, but I'm hoping to maybe catch a few songs out of it while we're at it.
Best of luck to all of you, I know you didn't retire for no reason, and I know whatever is uphead is going to rock harder than the Lupins ever did :)

Much love and sonic screwdrivers,
Randi

The Parselmouths

Ah, the Parselmouths, those snotty Slytherin Girls ( and boy) that make me laugh even though I'm not a Slytherin.
I love evil wizard rock, even though I'm not a big evil fan. I've even started an evil wrock project (Magic Most Evil, but that's another article).
But anyway, I like the Parselmouths because they're likeably evil. They're not murdering fascists (Voldemort) or crazy blood thirsty insane women (Bellatrix). They're funny teenage girls (and boy) who's parents are alledgedly death eaters or something like that from what I gather.
They're just fun people who wonder why Hermione's name sounds whiny with a guitar in hand. I think that's most of what makes them likeable in the first place. So yay for non-evil evil wizard rock!

Songs That Referance Outside Stuff

I realized something about wizard rock the other day: We like a lot of stuff besides Harry Potter, and we put it in our songs about Harry so it's doubly awesome. Or they're parodies of our favorites songs. Here's some of my favorites.

Spells and Scars by Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls- This is one of the only, if not the only song on this list where the referance is not made in the lyrics. It's in the guitar solo. And it's the Dr. Who theme song. Lemme set the record straight, If there's one addiction that rivals that of Harry Potter, it's Dr. Who. So I fangirled when I heard this song. Nice job, Christian.
Ginny Is  A Punk Rocker- Whompy parodies the Ramones! Based on the landmark Sheena Is A Punk Rocker, Ginny had my cracking up.
Dog Days by the Deathsticks-  As well as my other addictions ( I need therapy I suppose) Florence and the Machine is my biggest music one. So of course I nearly died listening to this. It's a diferent kind of death song as well. It's not weepy or sad. It's just, RUN HARRY HE'S DEAD THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO STOP BEING ANGSTY IT'S ANNOYING! (My thoughts for most of OOTP). I also like the playing of the grape spoons.
Cedric by the Moaning Myrtles- It's a Twilight referanced song, although I don't like Twilight, it's ridiculously funny, just like everything else the Moaning Myrtles do.
What's your favorite? Leave it in the comments

We Are Wizards Movie

Alright, so if you don't know, We Are Wizards is a documentary that you can watch for free on Hulu and it's about the Harry Potter fandom obvioiusly.
It covered a range of stuff about our world and even captured an Anti-Potter's point of view, which became one of the most controversial moments in the movie.
Wrock- Harry and the Potters, The Hungarian Horntails, DJ Luna Lovegood, the Cedric Diggorys, two minutes of The Whomping Willows, ten minutes of Draco and the Mafoy's.
Others- Brad Neely of Wizard People, Dear Reader, Miss Potterwar (I forgot her name), a few legal representitives, MELISSA FREAKIN' ANELLI, and Carol what's her face who makes anti-Harry Potter movies.
The wrock aspect spent a lot of time on the Lovely Wizard Rock Partridge family (Darius was so small!!!) and Harry and the Potters. This wasn't a  wrock centric movie and I had to remember that while watching when it went more indepth on other stuff (if you want a wrock documentary check out the Wizard Rockumentary)
A surprising amount of content was on the war with Warner Brothers with amusingly nasty commentary from Brad Neely about how he didn't want his misinformed movie voice over shown at a Potter conferance for free of getting sued for everything he owns, and Ms.Potterwar on becoming head of Potterwar.org, organizing a worldwide boycott of everything Harry Potter EXCEPT for the books and ending the evil letter campaign.
I also enjoyed Carol's contributions to the movie in an odd way. As I mentioned before this Carol woman is very anti-Harry Potter, but I'm glad they stuck her in there, because I think a lot of directors are scared of straying too out of subject, but it was cool to get a different perspective (sp?). If you have an opinion on that mess, comment below.
Melissa Anelli was in the movie a good bit, talking more from a fan perspective and cool info about cons and stuff.
Harry and the Potters were easily one of the best bits. Joe and Paul are funny and it provided basis to the noble and humble start to the first wrock band.
What's your opinion on the movie? Leave a comment.
